Crispy and Delicious Orange Chicken
Crispy Orange Chicken with Sesame Seeds
Ingredients:
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for frying
For the Sauce:
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. In a shallow bowl, mix together the cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge the chicken pieces in the mixture, shaking off any excess.
2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken pieces in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir to combine.
4. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly pour the slurry into the skillet while stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
5. Cook the sauce for 2-3 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency.
6. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sauce.
7. Garnish the crispy orange chicken with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
8. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
9. Enjoy your delicious homemade crispy orange chicken with sesame seeds!
